These hoses work under negative pressure, which means they may pull water, slurries, and a variety of other things from a static source like a tank or pool. Depending on the hose, they can survive a wide range of temperatures, however they’re usually built to tolerate vacuum rather than pressure, abrasion, or heat. The PVC helix, which may be found in most suction hoses, helps to prevent crushing and kinking.
